Delete your account
payDNA is a digital cash card and money-transfer service operated by payDNA (Pty) Ltd. Here's how to ask us to delete your account and the personal information tied to it — and what we're legally required to keep.
How to request account deletion
To request that your account and associated data be deleted, follow these steps:
- Email us at info@paydna.co.za from the email address registered to your payDNA account.
- Use the subject line "Account Deletion Request" — or use the button below, which fills this in for you.
- Include your full name (and the mobile number on your account, if you added one) so that we can verify your identity.
Once we have verified your identity, we will action your request and delete the data described below within 30 days. We will confirm by email once this is complete.
What we delete
When we process your request, we delete the personal information we hold about you, including:
- Your account profile — name, email address, and profile image
- Your wallet and balance history
- Your linked card details and card load / top-up history
- Identity-verification (KYC) records we hold about you
- Your authentication and sign-in records
What we keep, and for how long
As a regulated financial services provider, we are legally required to retain certain records even after your account is deleted. We keep these to meet our obligations under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
- Financial transaction records and identity-verification (KYC) information are retained for 5 years after your account is closed, after which they are securely deleted.
- During this period these records are access-restricted and used only for legal, regulatory, audit, and fraud-prevention purposes.
Data held by our service providers
Some of your information is processed on our behalf by trusted service providers, including our authentication provider, our identity-verification (KYC) provider, and our card issuer. When you delete your account, we instruct these providers to delete your personal information, subject to the same legal retention periods described above.
